25 things I’ve learned in my life

Recently, I read an article written by a 90-year old woman entitled 45 Things I’ve Learned in Life. It was a great article, and I really identified with many of the things she listed. Just for yuks, I decided to compile my own list, and now I’ve decided to share it with you. It’s in no particular order (and, no, I didn’t steal any of her list!).

  1. Perception is not reality; reality is reality. Get the facts before you judge.
  2. I cannot control what others do or say, only what I do & say.
  3. God will only hold me accountable for what I do & say.
  4. My children are my destiny.
  5. Everything in life is an opportunity for growth.
  6. We are not here for our own amusement, but to impact others.
  7. Looking before you jump isn’t such a bad idea after all.
  8. God does not believe in blind faith…do your research & discover the truth.
  9. Every situation has a silver-lining. Sometimes you just have to look a little harder to see it.
  10. A second opinion is always wise.
  11. It’s not always necessary to say the 1st thing that pops into your head.
  12. Resolving conflict is better than avoiding it.
  13. Meekness is not a weakness.
  14. Greatness is a choice, so is mediocrity.
  15. TV really is the great wasteland.
  16. There are very few trustworthy people in the world. Why not be one of them?
  17. Mercy triumphs over judgment.
  18. Personal accountability is necessary for success in any endeavor.
  19. Gossip kills.
  20. Trust is a key ingredient to success.
  21. You can’t fail if you don’t give up.
  22. You can’t succeed if you do give up.
  23. Adversity really does build character.
  24. Loneliness leads to bad decisions.
  25. Whatever you’re searching for can only be found in God.

Be great to have a link to the article by the 90 year-old woman too, Saemus! Thanks for the post. Not a bad activity for any of us to do really, and a great way for us to reflect on the things that God is teaching us/has taught us.

Great list! Funny, true and simple. I especially like #5, #14, and #25. Thanks for your mini-proverbs!
